Something about the author of this site

This site has been set up and is maintained by André H. Roosma, M.Sc., a tall Christian living in the Netherlands. Most glad and privileged I feel, to be called by YaHUaH, the God of the Bible and the Creator of heaven and earth, through Yeshu‘ah (also known as Jesus), His Son, our Savior. His great love has ravished my heart such that I want to follow, praise, and proclaim YaHUaH, as God reveals Himself in the Bible, and Him alone. He is more than worthy of all our praise, both verbally and non-verbally! That is also reflected in the name of this site.
By nature I am a researcher – one who is not satisfied with superficial explanations. My educational and professional background is in scientific research as well (holding an M.Sc. in Operations Research, Eindhoven University NL, 1981). Since 1980 I have always been involved in scientific research. For 15 years I worked in applied research in industry, and for 12 more years in innovation, business intelligence and management advice for a big Dutch company.
Besides that, as a Christian I received a lot of training and education for the last fourty years. And all those years I was intensively involved in Bible study and pastoral care in various churches and communities. Since 2002 also in the Christian study center Accede!. Since the end of 2007 that became a full-time ministry, adding more in-depth study of the First Testament and the exploration of early Biblical Hebrew, as presented on this website.

Vision on the Bible and on Bible interpretation

The Bible - in its original form - is for me the Word of God. In interpreting the Bible I look first and foremost for the most original form of the text. Next, I look at the text in its historical, geographical and cultural context: who were involved, what was their background, etc. This involves also comparison of Scripture with Scripture: what do other passages say about the same subject? From that, the meaning (for Hebraists: the peshat or plain meaning) of the text can be derived, and from that the implication for us in our times. This means I am not strictly literalist but contextualist. I study and interpret the Scripture based upon the language context, the context in the entire Scripture, and the historic and cultural context.

In all of that, I acknowledge my utter dependence on the Holy Spirit of God to open the text and reveal what God intended and how He wants to apply the text to our twenty-first century situation. To YaH be all honor in all of that! He gave me the vision for this website, He continually gives me new insights to discover, and the inspiration to write about them, time and again.

This is some of the background from which the articles that you find here, have been written.
