The Bible

English Bible-translations

  • Biblija – a website of the United Bible Societies, featuring the Bible in various translations (English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Slovenian, etc.; incl. search function).
  • The Bible Gateway (part of Gospel Communications) offers various English translations.
  • The NET Bible tries to translate the Bible in contemporary English while staying close to the best source texts available today as well. What I appreciate is its extensive apparatus of footnootes giving very apt background info behind the translation provided.

Bibles in original languages

  • Q-Bible – a.o. interlinear Hebrew and Greek source text with Strong-codes, lexicons and help in analysis of grammar (including explanation of single letter words, pre- and suffixes!) and pronunciation (see e.g. Genesis 1:1).
  • Blue Letter Bible – a.o. interlinear Hebrew and Greek source text with Strong-codes, lexicons and help in analysis of grammar (see e.g. Genesis 1:1).
  • Biblos – offers very extensive help for deeper study of the source texts with a.o. multiple versions of them (see e.g. Genesis 1:1).
  • Tanach – contains the most actual updated version of the Westminster Leningrad Codex [4.12] of the First Testament.
  • Mechon-Mamre – Jewish First Testament, based on the actualised source text of the Aleppo Codex (also material for off-line usage).
  • The original Aleppo-codex, in its original graphic lay-out. See how it really is written there!

Bible software

theWord Bible Software
  • The Word, a very versatile and user-friendly program, developed by Costas Stergiou. With many modules available, among which an enormous list of Bible-translations and source texts – a.o. the Westminster Leningrad and Aleppo codices mentioned above.
The Word is free; when used intensively a voluntary contribution is welcomed, to cover the development-costs.
Difficulty with installation? Look at the instruction-video's at Godly Christian Ministries (also additional modules). Also some tutorials available at YouTube.
